In the fall of 2002 the Center inaugurated series of omnibus national telephone surveys.
Individuals or organizations interested in having their questions included in the national surveys should e-mail Associate Director John Stevenson or call (608) 262-9032.
From 1988 to 2002, a central activity at UWSC was the continuous national telephone survey (WISCON), in which interviews were conducted each day with a national probability sample. The interview included about 10 minutes of core questions that remain constant and up to 20 minutes of additional questions. The survey was used for both instructional and research purposes. It was particularly valuable for monitoring short term social change, and for experimentation and field testing question sequences.
WISCON was suspended in mid-2002 for financial reasons. The Center would resume the survey if a stable source of funding could be located.
