Jacob began working at the Survey Center in 2019, assisting Jen Dykema as an undergraduate research intern. During his first few semesters as a student intern, he developed research skills through exposure to various research tasks with Jen and other UWSC project directors. At the end of his first semester at the Survey Center, Jacob started working as a telephone interviewer. The combination of research assistance and CATI interviewing formed his passion for understanding, working with, and improving survey methods. In 2021, Jacob started a new position as a graduate research assistant, working closely with Ken Croes, applying previously acquired skills and building new ones through technical review of survey questions, research participant recruitment, cognitive interviewing, and qualitative analysis of interview data. At the end of 2023, Jacob joined the project directing team.
Jacob earned a Master of Public Affairs degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2023. He previously earned a B.A. in German and a B.S. in Community and Environmental Sociology, also from UW-Madison.
