National Academies Press releases report, Estimating the Incidence of Rape and Sexual Assault

A panel assembled by the National Research Council’s Committee on National Statistics has released a study that reviews issues in measuring rape and sexual assault. The panel, sponsored by the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) of the U.S. Department of Justice, was charged with recommending methods for asking about rape and sexual assault in household surveys to yield appropriate national estimates. Faculty Director Nora Cate Schaeffer was one of the twelve panel members who contributed to the workshop, panel presentations, and resulting report. A free copy of the pdf of the report can be downloaded from the National Academies Press website after registering.
