Outcomes of Women Undergoing Breast Surgery

CLIENT

Dr. Anne Nattinger, Medical College of Wisconsin

DESCRIPTION

This longitudinal survey of senior women who have undergone breast surgery related to cancer was fielded between 2005 and 2008. The survey design involved 4 waves of telephone surveys with women over age 65 in the states of New York, Florida, Illinois, and California. Women were recruited to participate approximately two years after their breast cancer surgery took place, and were contacted each year for four years to track the kinds of treatment women received, and their overall health outcomes. UWSC maintained response rates of 95% or higher in each of the three follow up waves completed. Additional grant funding is being applied for at this time in order to continue conduct of follow up interviews with original survey participants.
