DESCRIPTION

The Public Interest Law Organizations Study, sponsored by the American Bar Foundation and the University of California, Berkeley, involves a 45-minute telephone interview with approximately 325 key contacts. The sampled organizations are located across the nation and vary in political background and purpose. The study focuses on the variation in strategy, structure, and mission among these organizations and hopes to map the growing diversity of public interest practice in the United States. The ultimate aim of this study is to increase understanding of the legal profession and of public interest lawyers in particular.
